To obtain the red CSCS Experienced Worker card, you must pass the CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test—specifically the Operatives or Specialist test—within the last two years. This card is for workers with at least one year of on-the-job experience who are registered for an NVQ/SVQ level 2 or higher, valid for only one year.

- Test Type: The CITB Operatives Test is usually required, but a Specialist test may be needed depending on your specific trade.
- Test Duration/Structure: 45 minutes for 50 questions, with a 90% pass mark (45 out of 50 correct).
This temporary card is valid for three years and cannot be renewed. Cardholders are expected to complete their qualification by the time the card expires and apply for a skilled CSCS card.
Applicants must also have passed the appropriate level CITB Health, safety and environment (HSE) test within the last two years.
